Jim Harrison

James Harrison was born and raised in Kennebunk, where he graduated from Kennebunk High School in 1976. Jim went on to obtain a Bachelor of Science in Finance and Marketing from Concordia University, Loyola College, Montreal, Quebec and a Deplome from the University of Marseille France at Aix–En–Provence.

Jim worked in the corporate sales division of Hilton Hotels before entering the insurance industry in the summer of 1984, when he joined his father’s business, Cole Harrison Agency. Jim obtained his Certified Insurance Counselor designation in 1987 after being awarded the annual scholarship that is presented by the Insurance Institute for the Society for Certified Insurance Counselors.

Since returning to Kennebunk more than 35 years ago, Jim has been involved in numerous local non-profits at the Board of Directors level. Such associations include The Brick Store Museum, The Kennebunk Land Trust, The Hope Cemetery Corporation, Pack 304 Cub Scouts of America, Troop 304 Boy Scouts of America, Kennebunk, Kennebunkport Little League and Emerald Management Low Income Affordable Housing. He also served his town for 23 years as a firefighter and secretary treasurer of the Kennebunk Fire Department. Jim has also worked extensively with the York County Shelters food pantry and is registered with the Good Shepard Food Bank of Auburn.

Jim truly believes that one has an obligation to give back to the people of his/her community. Through action and commitment, he believes each of us can help make our home town better.

Jim has been blessed with 34 years of marriage to his wife Laura. Together they have raised three wonderful children (two daughters and a son).
